materialized view sequencing

In a setup with multiple materialized views (MVs) that depend on each other, how can we make sure they refresh one after the other, so that MV B starts refreshing only after MV A has completed? Scheduling them to start at different times seems like the only option, but if one refresh unexpectedly takes longer, a subsequent MV might begin refreshing before the previous one is done.
